Krystle Maki, Women’s Shelters Canada
Krystle Maki is the research and policy coordinator at Women’s Shelters Canada (WSC). WSC brings together 14 provincial and territorial shelter/transition house networks and provides a unified voice to collaborate, educate, and innovate for systemic change to bring an end to violence against women (VAW). At WSC she has been the lead on a national survey on VAW shelters and transition houses, which received an overwhelming response rate of 78%. In addition to her work at WSC she is completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies at the University of Ottawa examining labour, working conditions and unionization within VAW shelters.
